It's quite noisy here. Manasa doesn't like it at all. I don't suppose anyone took her wants into consideration before packing us off without so much as a by-your-leave.

Today is my twelfth birthday. I suppose I'll be going to a party whether I like it or not.
I am very glad all that Christmas nonsense is over with. So is Manasa. I suppose it could have been worse. It was worse in the orphanage, at least here no one tried to make me sing.

Manasa and me went exploring today. It was very interesting and she caught the biggest spider ever. I think it was a tarantula! It was bigger than her head and I didn't think she'd be able to swallow it but she can unhinge her jaw, it was very exciting. I thought that was impressive for such a young snake. We got very wet though. Someday I'm going to be able to control the weather just like the King does and this sort of thing won't happen.

There seem to be a lot mothers of current occupants showing up. I wonder if this is indicative of some sort of pattern to which the King is adhering.

I wonder if my mother will come. I wonder if she'll recognize me when she comes. How will I recognize her? Maybe she's already here! I'm sure she must be very beautiful, my mother. Of course those hags at the orphanage never told me her name, but I'm sure they must have known it. They must have. She died there, how could they not know her name? They were probably hiding it from me. She was probably someone very important and when she went missing there was a reward put out for us, and those women didn't want me to know it because they wanted it for themselves. It probably got bigger each year that passed and that's why they were waiting to turn me in. But Dumbledore came and told me who I really am first and they got nothing. Nothing. Serves them right!
Maybe my father will come too. Tom Riddle. I bet the King can't make him come because he's so powerful, but once he hears I'm here he'll come get me. Or maybe
